If you feel concerned about the possible health effects of electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation exposure, you're not alone. Globally,  more than 3 billion people are exposed to EMF radiation daily by both natural and man-made sources.
The medical and scientific community continues to debate over just how dangerous electromagnetic radiation genuinely is. For example, some medical professionals assert that high EMF levels increase cancer risk. If you’re worried about possible health effects, there are some precautions and steps you can take to minimize your exposure.
We’ll help you understand EMF, where you come in contact with it, and the symptoms associated with exposure. Plus, we'll give you tips on reducing and protecting yourself from EMF radiation emitted from your mobile phone and other electric devices.

What is EMF Radiation?
Electric and magnetic fields are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation. Electricity, the flow of electrons through a conductor, such as a wire, produces EMFs.
The term EMF combines two energy fields, electrical and magnetic fields, that occur together. The force electrons exert on each other as they travel through a wire creates an electric field, and the motion of these electrically charged particles results in a magnetic field.
There are two categories of EMFs based on their frequency levels, non-ionizing radiation and ionizing radiation.
  • Ionizing radiation is emitted by high-powered devices such as x-ray machines and nuclear power plants. This type of EMF is most closely associated with health concerns as it can potentially harm the human body by causing cancer and damage to DNA.

  • Non-ionizing radiation is emitted by low-powered devices such as cell phones, computers, and televisions. Although non-ionizing radiation EMFs haven’t been proven to cause health concerns, many people believe they are harmful.

Where Do You Come in Contact with EMF Radiation?
You may not realize it, but you come in contact with EMF radiation daily from devices like your cellphone, computer, and television. Even your toaster emits EMF radiation!
So, where do you come in contact with EMF radiation?
  • Cellphone

  • Computer

  • Microwave

  • Toaster

  • Television

  • Radio

  • Bluetooth devices

  • Wifi routers

  • Smart meters

  • MRI machines

  • Powerlines

Is EMF Radiation Harmful?
More and more people have been asking whether EMF radiation is harmful as emerging research suggests a link between EMF radiation and various health concerns.
There’s a lot of debate surrounding the topic of EMF radiation and its potential harm to humans. Although scientific research is ongoing, some believe long-term exposure to EMF could increase the risk of cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and other health problems.
Scientific agencies and researchers have conducted several studies on the effects of EMF radiation on humans. One study found that EMF radiation could  increase the risk of glioma, a malignant brain cancer. However, this study was not definitive, and more research is needed.
Another study found that EMF radiation could  increase the risk of leukemia. Again, the scientific community emphasizes inconclusive evidence and the need for continued research on these findings.
What Are the Symptoms of EMF Radiation Exposure?
A  condition known as Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) causes people to experience various symptoms in response to exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

Some people report that EMF radiation exposure has caused various symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and skin rashes. Also, they share that they’ve experienced anxiety, depression, and difficulty concentrating. In more severe cases, people have developed theories connecting EMF radiation exposure to cancer, heart disease, and infertility.

What does EMF do to your body?
There’s a growing collection of evidence suggesting that exposure to EMF radiation can have adverse effects on our health. EMF exposure could disrupt the body's natural electrical systems, cause an imbalance in the production of free radicals, and damage DNA, promoting the growth of cancer cells.

How to Reduce EMF Exposure
Although there is no definitive answer as to whether or not EMF radiation is harmful, if you're worried about EMF radiation, you can reduce your exposure by following these steps.
  1. Use a hands-free device when talking on your cell phone to keep it away from your head.

  2. Maintain distance from your cell phone when you’re not using it.

  3. Keep your phone out of your pocket.

  4. Place your phone in a different location from where you sleep.

  5. Spend as little time as possible near appliances such as the refrigerator or microwave.

  6. Unplug appliances when not in use.

  7. Keep your distance from sources of EMF radiation like power lines, cell towers, and microwave ovens.

  8. Create barriers between you and the sources of EMF radiation with  EMF-blocking materials and products.

  9. Store devices in EMF-blocking products during meal times.

  10. Plan breaks from electronic devices emitting EMF radiation, like cell phones and laptops.

How to Protect Yourself from EMF Radiation
There are a number of ways to protect yourself from EMF radiation. You can use EMF shielding devices, which are devices that block or absorb EMF radiation. Also, consider investing in EMF-safe products and EMF protection devices that are designed to limit your exposure to EMF radiation.

What are EMF protection devices?
EMF protection devices are becoming increasingly popular as people become more aware of the potential health risks associated with EMF exposure. Some of these devices are designed to be placed near electronic devices, while others are worn on the body, such as the  Faraday Bag. These devices work by absorbing or deflecting the EMF radiation away from the body.
